Grill & outdoor kitchen cleaning in
Cortez.

Cortez grills cook more fish than anywhere else we serve, and fish residue behaves nothing like beef grease. It needs a different approach.

Your neighbor in grill care.

Cortez is a working fishing village, one of the last genuine ones on this coast, and the grills here reflect that. People cook what they caught that morning. Fresh fish, shrimp, stone crab and grouper rather than burgers and steaks, and that changes what builds up on a grill.

Fish oils are lighter than beef fat and migrate further into the firebox, through burner covers and down into places beef grease never reaches. They also oxidize into an odor that clings and will transfer to whatever you cook next. Burning it off does not solve it. Steam sanitizing the interior does.

On top of that, Cortez sits right on Sarasota Bay with the kind of direct salt exposure the barrier islands get. Combine heavy seafood use with constant salt and you have grills that genuinely need quarterly attention rather than twice a year.

Frequently asked questions.

My grill smells like fish no matter what I cook. Can you fix that? +

Yes, and it is one of the more common calls we get in Cortez. Fish oil works its way deeper into the firebox and burner covers than beef fat does, then oxidizes into an odor that transfers to everything afterward. Burning it off will not clear it. A full teardown with steam sanitizing removes the source.

How often should a Cortez grill be cleaned? +

Quarterly. You have direct bay salt exposure plus heavy seafood use, which is the hardest combination we deal with anywhere in our service area. Twice a year is workable but you will see the difference.

Do you clean dock and boat grills? +

We do, and they need it more than anything else. Dock grills get constant spray, rarely have a proper cover, and are usually used for fresh catch. Access for equipment and a water source is all we need.

What does cleaning cost in Cortez? +

Standalone grills and smokers are $260 to $300, built-in units and outdoor kitchens are $360 to $380, and pellet grills are $260. Hood and vent cleaning is a $90 add-on. No surcharge for the village or the bayfront.

Can you save a grill that has salt corrosion already? +

Often. Surface corrosion and staining polish out and seized hardware can usually be freed and treated. Deep pitting that has gone through the steel, or burners corroded past even flame, is a different story. We assess first and tell you plainly whether cleaning is worth the money.

Do you work with restaurants or commercial kitchens? +

Our focus is residential grills and outdoor kitchens rather than commercial kitchen equipment. If you run a small operation with a residential-style grill, get in touch and Mike will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
